The biggest waste of time for any affiliate marketer is to promote a product that just doesn't sell. The two kinds of products that often don't sell well are poor products (quite obviously) and promotes that everyone else is promoting. Chances are, before you promote a popular product, you have already given away a good portion of your sales, because other marketers are also promoting the same product.
The first step to finding red-hot affiliate products that not everyone is promoting is to go to the Clickbank marketplace. Don't go for those products near the top of their respective categories. Instead go after new products that have just launched. Peruse their sales page and ask the product owner for a review copy. If you tell them you are going to market their product and you know a few good traffic sources, they usually won't mind sending you one.
Another good way to check out the latest products to hit the market is to go to the Internet Marketing Products Reviews section on the Warrior forum. It is a great little place to see what other people think of new products. If you see a product is getting a few rave reviews, chances are it is a good product to promote. If you are promoting to your list, it is even more important that the product you promote be of the highest quality. Nothing less is acceptable.
The third way to find red-hot affiliate products is to sign up for lists in your niche market. You don't have to use your primary email for this, since you won't want to clog up your email inbox. Set up a separate email address specifically for this purpose so you can scout around and see what other marketers are promoting. If it's a quality product and it's not too widely promoted yet, jump on!
